The Care Quality Commission will expect that appropriate staff who are new to services which they regulate will achieve the competences required by the Care Certificate as part of their induction.

Who is this Care Certificate training course for?
While primarily designed for new staff, the Care Certificate also offers existing staff at various levels the opportunity to refresh and improve their knowledge and skills.
You’ll be expected to complete the Care Certificate if you’re:
Care Assistants
• Assistant Practitioners
• Care Support Workers
• Adult Social Workers
• Those giving support to clinical roles in the NHS where there is any direct contact with patients.
• Adult Social Care workers giving direct care in residential, nursing homes and hospices, home care workers, and domiciliary care staff.
• Other roles in health and social care such as caring volunteers, porters, cooks, maintenance or drivers that have direct contact with patients and/or service users.
• New persons to health or social care
Requirements
You will be given a multiple-choice exam available at the end of the learning, you will be graded. On a pass mark of 70% or higher a certificate is issued.
You may retake the test at your convenience at no additional cost.
On completion of the exam, a free certificate is instantly available for you to download or print.
It is not possible to achieve the Care Certificate through the completion of e-learning or completing a workbook alone. Whilst e-learning or workbooks support the acquisition of knowledge and the assessment of the knowledge, the assessment of the required skills must be undertaken in the workplace by your employer
Career path
The knowledge and skills acquired through the Care Certificate can be leveraged towards attaining additional qualifications and future apprenticeships. However, it is important to note that occasional refresher courses may be necessary to maintain proficiency and stay up-to-date with evolving practices.
